737 Cockpit Suite Amsterdam Hotel

Corendon Amsterdam 737 Suite Review: A Hotel Room with Its Own Boeing 737 Cockpit

Why Stay Here?

Arrival and Rooms

The arrival experience itself is fairly ordinary.

Check-in was quick, efficient and the staff were genuinely friendly throughout my stay, but there isn’t anything particularly memorable about the hotel itself. In many ways, it feels like a standard Marriott Tribute Portfolio property.

That all changes the moment you unlock the door to Suite 737.As soon as you step inside, your eyes are immediately drawn to the original Boeing 737 cockpit built into the suite.

The cockpit isn’t a replica or a movie prop—it’s the genuine flight deck from a retired Corendon Boeing 737-800.One of my favourite details is that part of the aircraft actually protrudes outside the hotel building. Sitting in the captain’s seat while looking through the original cockpit windows makes the experience feel remarkably authentic, and for a moment you almost forget you’re inside a hotel.Behind the cockpit, you’ll also find the first three rows of the original economy cabin, completing the illusion that you’ve stepped aboard a real aircraft.

Once you look beyond the plane itself, however, the suite becomes much more ordinary. The living area is comfortable but fairly simple, and although the suite measures around 120 m², much of that space is taken up by the aircraft. The bathroom also felt surprisingly small for a suite of this size.

Interestingly, part of the suite used to serve as a meeting room that companies could hire alongside the cockpit experience. Fortunately, this has since been converted into a proper living area, which makes the suite feel much more suitable for an overnight stay. Tucked around the corner, you’ll also find a small kitchenette.

Without the aircraft, I honestly don’t think the suite would leave much of an impression. Fortunately, the aircraft is exactly why you’re here.

Comfort & Amenities

    • A spacious 120 m² suite offering one of the biggest wow factors I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. Having a real Boeing 737 cockpit integrated into the room makes this an unforgettable stay from the moment you open the door.

    • The bathroom felt surprisingly small considering the overall size of the suite. It’s perfectly functional but doesn’t quite match what you’d expect from a 120 m² accommodation.

    • When I stayed here, part of the suite was still set up as a meeting room rather than a proper living area. Fortunately, the hotel has since changed it to living room, which I think is a much better use of the space and significantly improves the overall experience.
Sleepability

  • Being a corner suite on the top floor, the room was wonderfully quiet. I didn’t hear any noise from neighbouring rooms or the corridor, making it easy to relax.

  • I visited this hotel in February, and unfortunately the room heating struggled to keep up. The suite felt noticeably cold throughout my stay, which had the biggest impact on my overall sleeping comfort.

  • The bed, mattress and pillows reflected the hotel’s overall category. They were perfectly adequate for a comfortable night’s sleep and exactly what I’d expect from a hotel at this level.

Dining

The hotel’s main restaurant, Mondi New-West, brings a splash of the Caribbean to what is otherwise a fairly standard airport hotel. Walking inside genuinely feels like stepping into a completely different place, with colourful interiors, tropical décor and a lively atmosphere that stands out from the rest of the property. In the evenings, the restaurant also hosts DJs and live entertainment, giving it a much more vibrant feel than a typical hotel restaurant.

During my stay, I had dinner here and ordered the chicken satay. It was enjoyable and exactly what I’d expect from a hotel restaurant—well prepared and satisfying, although not something I’d go out of my way to return for.

I also had breakfast the following morning. The selection was perfectly adequate, offering everything you’d typically look for, without trying to be anything extraordinary. It wasn’t a breakfast I’d remember long after my stay, but it certainly did its job well and matched the overall standard of the hotel.

Facilities and Experience

Beyond Suite 737, the facilities are fairly standard.

The wellness area includes a small indoor swimming pool and a sauna, both located within the same space. It’s a nice addition if you have some extra time, although it’s not something I’d choose this hotel for.

One thing worth mentioning is that the wellness area is quite compact. There are only a handful of loungers and limited seating around the pool, so it can start to feel crowded relatively quickly, especially during busier periods.

Summary and Rates

Corendon Amsterdam New-West is, in many ways, a solid but fairly standard hotel.

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Many guests will choose it for its convenient location, Marriott Bonvoy affiliation or simply as a comfortable place to stay in Amsterdam.

For me, however, there’s one reason that makes this hotel truly stand out: Suite 737

Sleeping inside the original cockpit of a Boeing 737-800, exploring the flight deck and sitting in the captain’s seat is one of the most memorable hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Yes, the suite itself has its compromises, and yes, the rest of the hotel is relatively ordinary—but none of that changes the fact that this is one of the most unique places I’ve ever spent the night.

For aviation enthusiasts—or anyone who loves genuinely unique hotels—I think it’s money well spent. In fact, I’d happily choose this suite again despite its shortcomings, simply because I haven’t stayed anywhere else quite like it. While Suite 737 doesn’t score a perfect 10 in every category, there’s one exception. In my WOW Effect category, it comfortably earns an 11/10. It’s simply one of the most unique hotel experiences I’ve ever had.

One caveat worth knowing

It’s important to book this suite for the right reasons.

If you’re expecting one of Amsterdam’s most luxurious hotel suites, you may leave slightly disappointed. Apart from the aircraft itself, the accommodation is fairly ordinary, with a relatively small bathroom and simple interior design.

This suite isn’t about luxury—it’s about an experience you simply can’t have anywhere else.
